Sortlist is a B2B SaaS marketplace that helps clients find digital agencies, using a matching algorithm. To improve the matching, agencies must add relevant skills to their profiles.
Only 19.6% of skills were used by more than 101 agencies, indicating a large amount of untapped potential.
I designed a self-sustaining feature that acts as a user-generated content loop, allowing agencies to add new available skills each time they become available.
In the first two weeks of the release, over 13,000 skills (a 669% increase in user-generated content) had already been added, providing agencies with more visibility for business opportunities. Additionally, thousands of new directory pages have been created and indexed leading to an increase in visitors as well.
Mockup of the new feature
Agencies (supply side) register and maintain their profiles on Sortlist, and they are the paying members of the business. Clients and companies (demand side) complete a briefing based on the ideal type of agency with which they want to collaborate. During the briefing, the clients have to specify the service, location, budget, etc that the agency should provide.
Using the client's briefing responses, Sortlist's matching algorithm generates a list of the most appropriate digital, creative, or marketing agencies for the client.
Agencies use the Agency app, a dedicated Sortlist web application, to manage their profiles, services, opportunities (or projects), and other configurations.
Navigation and structure of the agency app
They can add services to their profiles to showcase their expertise and assign specific skills for more granularity.
If an agency uses many relevant skills, it can help them get listed on more directories and make it easier to find potential clients for business opportunities.
The hierarchy between services and skills
We observed that only 342 (19.6%) skills were used by more than 101 agencies, indicating a large amount of untapped potential. For context, there are approximately 43,000 agencies registered on Sortlist.
